August 29, 2006 marks the one-year anniversary of the worst natural disaster in our nation's history ... the day Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. The catastrophic conservatism of the Bush administration and leading Republican lawmakers amplified the impacts of the natural disaster, and continues to promote tragedy for hundreds of thousands in the region today.
