Questions Bernanke Must Answer
Robert Borosage of the Institute for America's Future addresses the key questions members of the Senate must ask Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke when he appears before the Senate Banking Committee beginning December 3. Bernanke should not be confirmed for a second term as Fed chairman without his giving more detailed answers to questions about the trillions of dollars in taxpayer exposure resulting from Fed actions to prop up the banking sector during the 2008 financial meltdown.
The Institute supports legislation that will audit the books of the Federal Reserve and make public the commitments the Fed made to the financial sector and the beneficiaries of those commitments.
