I am 65, retired from a 43 years long career in tourism & travel industry.
I am caucasian, 2 daughters & two sons from two marriages.
I am not a sports person, but am slim and activ ( like to swim). I like music ( classics, jazz, gospels, world, portuguese & brazilian popular songs and african rithms in general as well as salsa and cuban, etc), reading ( a lot).
I can read in english, french and spanish, besides portuguese, my native tongue.
I am interested in science, humanities, politics ( a lot) and understanding economy. I like to understand and reason on most about everything...
In 1974, after the democratic coup ( that became known as the "Carnations Revolution) that put an end to a 48 years long dictatorship in my country, when civil liberties were restored ( including democratic trade unions) I was elected to the Direction of my trade union for a 4 years term.
I simpathize with Marx's thoughts specially on economics.
At present I engaged in a recently created Portuguese Movement for Palestine and for Peace in the Middle East.
I like jews ( I'm convinced I descend from jews who escaped the Inquisition myself) but hate the politics of the Sate of Israel. I praise the israeli jews, thogh, who oppose their country's policy towards the palestinians, specially the tragedy that is hapening now in Gaza.
I tend to love the USA but hate Bush & the neocons. I think they are un-american and un-patriotic.
The true american patriots are the ones that oppose them and oppose the "Patriot" act!
In my vew a patriot is someone who wants his/her country to improve and to accomplish that he/she must expose the crimes and wrongdoings of his/her government, not hide them.
A patriot rather wants his/her country to be loved and respected than hated or feared.
