Weekend Watchdog Wrap-Up

Dizzying highs and agonizing lows for the Watchdog this Sunday.

On Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace didn't ask Karl Rove about his lie regarding the Iraq war authorization vote. But after Rep. Chris van Hollen, D-Md. raised the subject, calling on Rove to "retract" his attempt to "revise history," Wallace interjected to say:

Gentlemen do we really think, when we're talking about 2008, that we need to go back and rehearse what happened in 2002?

Weekend Watchdog

Every Friday in our Weekend Watchdog feature, we post suggested questions for scheduled Sunday guests. You can add your own questions in the comment thread. We'll also include contact information for the shows, so we can let them know what their viewers want asked.

And on Sunday at 4 PM ET, tune in to Air America Radio's "Seder on Sundays" program, where I'll offer the Weekend Watchdog Wrap-Up.

For Karl Rove (Fox News Sunday): Earlier this month, you told PBS' Charlie Rose that it wasn't President Bush that rushed to attack Iraq without finishing weapons inspections, but Congress:

ROVE: ...one of the untold stories about the war is why did the United States Congress, the United States Senate, vote on the war resolution in the fall of 2002 ... This administration was opposed to it ... the administration was opposed to voting on it in the fall of 2002.

ROSE: Because?

Brooks, the conservative New York Times columnist, kicked things off Tuesday, declaring and lamenting that "Lou Dobbs is winning." more »

Weekend Watchdog Wrap-Up

Fox News Sunday had a landmark Watchdog day, not only asking this week's question about Huckabee's past ethical violations, but also asking last month's Watchdog question about Huckabee's deeply flawed proposal to replace the income tax with a national sales tax.

Huckabee's answers were laughable, saying that his five state Ethics Commission sanctions simply meant that: "I'm prepared for the rigors of a presidential campaign, in that I've been through this stuff."

And despite all the factual analyses finding that his tax plan could not generate enough revenue without a ridiculously high rate, Huckabee insisted that a 23% national sales tax would bring in the same amount of revenue.

Why did Fox go all Watchdog on Huckabee? more »

For former Sen. Fred Thompson (ABC's This Week): Your "Border Security and Immigration Reform" plan says: "Do not provide legal status to illegal aliens. Amnesty undermines U.S. law and policy..."

But on the 4/3/06 edition of "Hannity and Colmes," you said:

...because we allowed ourselves to wait until we woke up one day and found 12 million illegals here, there's no easy solution. And I think that you have to realize that you're either going to drive 12 million people underground permanently, which is not a good solution.
