Fairness and Equality Will Save Our Union
Fairness and Equality Will Save Our Union
huffingtonpost.com — For months, we've endured the back-and-forth banter among Republican presidential candidates as they fight for their party's nomination. Relentlessly tearing each other apart and proving just how contentious and petty they can be, these so-called front-runners exemplify what the GOP stands for at this very moment: obstruction & division. Last night during President Obama's State of the Union address, we were reminded of just how much we can achieve with a unified government and with leaders who put the nation's best interest before their own political agendas. At such a pivotal time when some would have us believe that there's no such thing as income inequality, the president has called for tax reform, a ban on insider trading in Congress and more as he vowed to tackle perhaps the greatest challenge of our time: fairness. Delivering a reassuring voice to the men, women and children still suffering during these tough economic times, the president drove home the notion that it isn't about jealousy; it's about equality.
