You may recall that last year, the Bush administration issued new State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) regulations that threatened states [1] trying to provide health insurance to kids from squeezed middle-class families, which could put pressure on states to take away SCHIP insurance some kids currently have.
Compassionate conservatism in action.
States resisted, as legal experts said the Bush administration broke the law [2] by arbitrarily issuing new regulations without allowing for any public comment or congressional review. Denying kids health insurance just couldn't wait!
Now, the General Accountability Office [3], the investigative arm of Congress, has formally concluded the Bush administration broke the law, [4] strengthening the case of the states and making it much harder for Bush to shove hiscruelty down our throats before he checks out in January.
It's not news that the Bushies bend and break the law and the Constitution whenever they see fit, but when they do it to keep health care away from kids, it shows you how depraved their conservatism is.
The GAO finds the Bush administration issued illegal regulations that tried to block states from providing health insurance to kids.
