The Campaign for America’s Future (CAF) and the Institute for America’s Future (IAF) seek interns who are well-organized team players with a commitment to and interest in progressive issues.
Interning with CAF is a great way to gain real world experience that could lead to a career in issue advocacy, public policy, public relations or many other avenues.
CAF plays a vital role in creating and coordinating national progressive policy. We engage citizens, activists and leaders in a renewed debate about the kind of country — and the kind of world — we want to build for the generations yet to come.
Interns will work with one of the following programmatic/functional teams:
• Administration
• Communications/Media Relations
• Development/Fund raising
• Online – Content
• Progressive Message/Conservative Failure
• Policy Research
• Health care
• Support program staff
• Conduct internet research and write reports
• Draft letters and respond to e-mail inquires
• Attend rallies, press conferences and other events
• Assist with receptionist responsibilities
• Participate in special projects and perform other related duties
• Maturity to take initiative and work independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Strict attention to detail and ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships Knowledge of data gathering techniques (library and Internet research)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook computer programs
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, calculators and facsimile machines
• Knowledge of political issues a plus
Interns receive the District of Columbia minimum wage of $7.55/hour. CAF/IAF offers a comfortable, creative work environment that welcomes diversity.
