Highlights from America's Future Now! 

 The first day of the America’s Future Now! Conference highlighted frank comments about the state of the progressive movement and its relationship to the White House and Congress from speakers that included Arianna Huffington, Markos Moulitsas, Andy Stern, Ilyse Hogue, Phaedra Ellis-Lamkin and Robert Borosage. Also during the conference’s first day, attendees discussed strategies for moving financial reform forward and for countering the influence of corporate money in politics. Back to Top

 At Day Two of the America’s Future Now! Conference, much of the day’s focus was on building the new economy. A key highlight was an address by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who reviewed the work Congress had done so far on jobs, financial reform and other economic issues. At other sessions during the day, participants tackled how to move economic reforms forward in Washington and win support for them among working-class people. Back to Top

 The America’s Future Now! conference solidified the “We Are The Change” theme with calls to action from the outspoken Rep. Alan Grayson, green energy pioneer Van Jones, student activist Gregory Cendana and House Progressive Caucus leader Rep. Barbara Lee. Lanya Shapiro was given the Maria Leavey Award for her behind-the-scenes work in the progressive movement. And Cenk Uygur led a demonstration from the conference to the Treasury Department to protest tax dollars given to Goldman Sachs during the financial crisis. Back to Top
