Tea Party Candidates, Sponsored By Wall Street
"Tea Party" candidates often wrap themselves in "grassroots" contempt for wealthy elites and denunciations of the "Wall Street bailout." But the 12 leading Tea Party Senate candidates accepted more than $4.6 million in campaign contributions from Wall Street for the 2010 election through September 30.
The chart below lists money these candidates have received from what the Center for Responsive Politics characterizes as the FIRE lobby—finance, insurance and real estate—a category that includes all of the big financial interests that benefited from the Wall Street bailout.
