The deficit fear mongers are right: America is facing a deficit that threatens to cripple our economy and foreclose on the futures of millions of Americans. They just have the wrong deficit. In June 2010, more than 23 million Americans were either unemployed or underemployed. More than 6.7 million Americans were unemployed for more than six months. The commentaries on this page focus attention on that jobs deficit and what we must do about it.
