Report predicts increase in state grants

mndaily.com — The Institute for America’s Future and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group released a report Thursday praising Barack Obama’s budget proposal for supporting students and taking support away from banks.

Obama’s budget would eliminate the Federal Family Education Loan Program and move that funding to the U.S. Department of Education’s Direct Loan program, which awards Pell Grants, the report stated. A Pell Grant is a federally awarded, need-based grant for post-secondary education.
