President Barack Obama has issued a challenge to end the "bubble economy" of speculation and debt and return to the economic "fundamentals."
Hundreds of policy makers, labor leaders, economists, and engaged citizens will take up that challenge at the Building the New Economy Conference, hosted by The Institute for America's Future and the Alliance for American Manufacturing.
This conference sounds the call for the new economy to create jobs that build a 21st-century infrastructure, usher in a clean energy future and position America to thrive in a global marketplace.
Invited speakers include these powerful leaders and thinkers:
Gov. Ed Rendell, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn.
Rich Trumka, President, AFL-CIO
Leo Gerard, President, United Steelworkers
Prof. Suzanne Berger, director of the MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives
Jeff Madrick, author, "The Case For Big Government"
Robert Kuttner, author, "The Squandering Of America"
Kate Gordon, Apollo Alliance
Unless we take up the challenge to bury the bubble economy, we will be doomed to repeat it. Now is our opportunity to rebuild and renew America's future. This conference is designed to tackle these critical issues.
FREE Admission. RSVP required for lunch seating.
