Weekend Watchdog

Every Friday in our Weekend Watchdog feature, we post suggested questions for scheduled Sunday guests. You can add your own questions in the comment thread. We'll also include contact information for the shows, so we can let them know what their viewers want asked.

And on Sunday at 4 PM ET, tune in to Air America Radio's "Seder on Sundays" program, where I'll offer the Weekend Watchdog Wrap-Up.

For Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss. (Fox News Sunday): You voted against the Senate energy bill, calling it "special interest policy." But your main complaint appears to be that it didn't call for more domestic drilling of oil.

Aren't conservatives making it harder for Congress to pass even bolder renewable energy policies, because they are beholden to the special interests in the fossil fuel industry?

For Pat Buchanan (NBC's Meet The Press): You have previously said (during the 12/8/91 edition of ABC's This Week) in reference to "legal immigration" that:

...if we had to take a million immigrants in, say, Zulus, next year or Englishmen and put them in Virginia, what group would be easier to assimilate and would cause less problems for the people of Virginia? There is nothing wrong with us sitting down and arguing that issue, that we are a European country.

Isn't your opposition to earned citizenship of illegal immigrants not based on border security, but based on race?

For Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. (ABC's This Week): Last month, you said "by September ... we should be on a move to draw that surge number down [in Iraq]" and that you "don't think we need to be an occupying power." Though you also said US troops should play "an embedding role" in the Iraqi military.

If we only reduce our troop levels, and embed those troops in the Iraqi military, won't we still be occupying Iraq?
