Watching MSNBC's election coverage. Pat Buchanan blares that Obama's inability to beat Clinton in this Pennsylvania primary shows he can't beat John McCain in the fall.
RACHEL MADDOW: "There is no connection between his inability to beat Hillary Clinton and whether he can beat John McCain. Two totally different types of races."
PAT BUCHANAN: "Look, let's hold the Marxist dialectic!"
Maddow gets an incredulous look on her face—did he just red-bait me for stating a self-evident fact?—then, a moment later, breaks into a charming, easy laugh. For Buchanan has just backed his empty "yay for white men!" argument so aggressively into a ditch the only thing left is to do is to laugh at him.
It must really, really suck to be a conservative Republican these days. None of the old tricks work any more.
