A suburban Denver parochial high school Spanish classroom. The discussion turns to immigration. A spokesperson for the Archiocese of Denver describes what happened next: "It became a heated discussion and some rhetoric was used that was inappropriate for the classroom."
What rhetoric was that? Here's what the local NBC affiliate reported:
At least one e-mail sent to 9NEWS said that at least one student started a chant of "white power" and some said that all Mexicans should go back to Mexico.... An e-mail sent to 9NEWS states the Hispanic students in the class at the time asked to leave, but were forced to stay in the classroom.
That's depressing stuff, but this, surely, will cheer you up.
[UPDATE: Ah, sucks that the link above doesn't work. It tells the story of a bunch of activists who countered a Klan rally by wearing clown outfits, and whenever the Klansmen chanted "white power!" they would say things like, "white flour? and start throwing flour around.]
