Jacob S. Hacker, the Yale University professor who has crafted a health-care-for-all plan that he has discussed with several Democratic presidential candidates, has taken a close look at the health care proposal released last week by Sen. Barack Obama and concludes that it's better than the early reviews concluded.

Read Hacker's analysis on TomPaine.com. He's says he's still not totally sold by the Obama approach, but he argues that aspects of the plan "would dramatically transform American health insurance for the better." In that respect, it's a healthy addition to the debate now raging in the 2008 presidential campaign over how best to ensure that every person in America has full access to health care.
