Gut feeling

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has a "gut feeling" about an imminent terrorist attack by the end of the summer.

So do I.

He can't point to a "specific threat." I can. Consider the fact pattern this spring and summer.

• April 26: 150 state, federal, and local cops raid four militia compounds in Alabama, one of them trip-wired with grenades, sweeping up a rocket launcher, 2,500 rounds of ammunition, and 130 grenades.

• April 25: nail-bomb found in an Austin abortion clinic parking lot "configured in such a way to cause serious bodily injury or death."

• May 1: Washington DC Minuteman and Freeper in good standing found with stash of semi-automatic weapons and explosives after his arrest at an immigration march.

• May 20: Aryan Nations member Jason Kenneth Hamilton kills wife, police officer, and church sexton at a Moscow, Idaho courthouse, wounding three others, then killed himself.

• May 22: Liberty University students arrested for possession of napalm bombs at Jerry Falwell's funeral.

Now this: Operation Rescue activists disrupt the business of the U.S. Senate, crying, "No Lord but Jesus Christ!" as a Hindu delivers the ceremonial invocation. See the video above - but more, importantly, read statement below, which does not even recognize the act as civil disobedience; the only people who broke a law, it clearly implies, are the senators who refused to step in to join them, thus betraying "our Founding Fathers":

Theology has moved from the church house onto the floor of the United States Senate, and has been arrested.

Ante Pavkovic, Kathy Pavkovic, and Kristen Sugar were all arrested in the chambers of the United States Senate as that chamber was violated by a false Hindu god. The Senate was opened with a Hindu prayer placing the false god of Hinduism on a level playing field with the One True God, Jesus Christ. This would never have been allowed by our Founding Fathers.

"Not one Senator had the backbone to stand as our Founding Fathers stood. They stood on the Gospel of Jesus Christ! There were three in the audience with the courage to stand and proclaim, 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.' They were immediately removed from the chambers, arrested, and are in jail now. This is precisely the self-righteousness of the terrorist - which, of course, is exactly who Operation Rescue are. Their allies even plan a celebratory reenactment, at the end of July in Milwaukee of the murder of an abortion provider.

And so, my gut feeling. The death toll from this summer's jihadist attacks in Great Britain is zero. The death toll from our own homeground terrorists this year so far is four. By, oh, let's say, September 11, I'm starting to feel like yet more Americans will kill other Americans for political reasons - through terrorism, in other words.

I also have another gut feeling: no one in the national media will really much care.
