Gift horse in the mouth?

Perhaps it's my over-delicate sensibilities, but is not this drawing by which the Wall Street Journal illustrated Tom Frank's first column—Barack Obama faggily sipping tea with one hand, and forming his other hand into a phallic-looking extended middle finger (recapitulating the absurd and debunked spin-point that the Illinois senator gave the New York senator "the finger")—a little bit offensive?
