George Bush = Winston Churchill

I couldn't quite believe what my friends at NewsMax just told me in an email was for real; after all, the relationship between right-wing media and the truth can often be a tenuous one. But no: NewsMax reported this one straight, got it exactly right. In its latest emailed "News Alert" (lead story: "FBI Fears WMD Attack, 30 Top U.S. Targets"), they announce:

President Bush on Tuesday called on Iran to explain why it had a secretive nuclear weapons program, and warned that any such efforts must not be allowed to flourish ''for the sake of world peace.''

.

And guess what! George Bush really did just say, "Iran -- we believe Iran had a secret military weapons program. And Iran must explain to the world why they had a program. Iran has an obligation to explain to the IAEA why they hid this program from them. Iran is dangerous, and they'll be even more dangerous if they learn how to enrich uranium." And that such must be prevented "from happening for the sake of world peace.

Mighty Churchillian of you, Mr. President. Never give in. Never, never, never, never, never.

You'll get your war with Iran yet, by gum.
