Conrad!

A friend asked me to comment on Conrad Black's surpassingly strange review of my book in the New York Sun, the neocon daily paper (for the backstory about why it was so surpassingly strange see here and here).

Well, for one thing, the first time around the Sun gave me a generous rave. Why was Black allowed to step in and reverse the paper's editorial opinion? Well, one suspects that it has something to do with the fact that he is one of the paper's "investors"—which is to say, since the rag loses money and always will, one of its benefactors.

It re-reminded me how astonishingly, nakedly corrupt the right can be, when I uncovered the editor's lugubrious paeon to the man upon his conviction for fraud and obstruction of justice.
