Bette Davis weeps

In creating this blog, Campaign for America's Future gave me a hammer. "See those nails sticking up all over the place?" they asked me. "That's conservative failure. Bash them down."

And so, every day, I do. For indeed, conservative failures are everywhere, in ever greater proliferation every day. Sometimes, however, I worry. You know the old saying: for a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Do I bash too widely? Do I see capitulation to the right-wing's moral leveling of the country just about everywhere? Sometimes, should I place the blame somewhere else?

Hard to say. But when I read that a major Hollywood studio production head has made a rule that "We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead," it's hard for me not to conclude that this country has been infected with a right-wing virus that has insinuated itself very deeply and dangerously into our national consciousness indeed.
