Some Day...Some Day...

I've just passed a pretty damned satisfying Martin Luther King Day: riding along on one of ten buses Chicago congressman Danny K. Davis chartered for the inauguration. I'll be publishing an essay on the trip; you'll be hearing more soon.

As good a time as any to re-linke to my 2007 New Republican Online essay on the meretricious right-wing Santa Clausification of Martin Luther King, and my reminder of how King was treated in Barack Obama's Chicago when he marched for open housing—along with several people I met today—in 1966.

We shall overcome jejune, glib conservative cooptation of America's greatest out-and-proud democratic socialist, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
