Has Anyone Found These Missing Democrats?

In early August 2005, we issued a playful challenge to our supporters, enlisting them in a "search" for six Democrats who were missing when it came time to stand up for hard-working people across America. The six "missing" Democrats were Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, Rep. Ruben Hinojosa, D-Texas, Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., and Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn.

All six supported bankruptcy legislation written by credit card companies, tort legislation that weakens victims' rights, trade legislation that extends failed policies to Central America and energy legislation that does nothing to reduce soaring gas prices. We distributed photos of the missing representatives and senators on "milk cartons" to congressional staffers outside Capitol Hill subway stations and our online supporters sent tens of thousands of messages to these members'' chiefs of staff, asking them to join us in the "search" for their "missing" member of Congress.
